Taste the Difference 2015

Taste the Difference 2015 Recap Cuisine for a cause. Taste the Difference 2015 was a delicious VIP culinary event held during 2015 Taste of Dallas. The event benefited the American Heart Association. Chefs came with pizzazz as they tempted taste buds with a number of dishes. Some favorites included Cru Wine Bar’s Barolo braised short rib with gorgonzola polenta. Caribbean Cabana did not disappoint with their beef patties, wings, and rice and cabbage sampler. Meanwhile delicious crunchy mini crab cakes covered in a spicy creamy beurre blanc sauce were offered up by Amberjacks Fish Market Grille. For sips, guests could wet their whistles with a variety of booze, including a…

Harvey B’s and the Legend of Char Broiled Burgers

Harvey B’s Rated 4.7 Stars TXMB And here I thought perfect grill lines were just a legend, existing only in television, places that say you can “have it your way,” and intensely filtered Instagram photos. Haven’t you ever wondered if those legends were real, and if there really was such a thing as a real char broiled burger? Harvey B’s is just such a place of legend. Although this legend has only been around a little over four months it’s already drawing quite the interest. Located in East Dallas, Harvey B’s is a tiny joint with something like 5 stools and 4 chairs. There’s not tons of space inside to…

Putting the two together is probably my ultimate happiness in the world. It’s a rare occasion when one can find the gloriousness of inexpensive eating without being yelled at via microphone. During a few of my excursions in Garland I’ve found some grub that surpasses your favorite fast food chain in taste and cost. So, go ahead and grab your corn purse. You won’t need much else for these five tasty hole in the walls. Note, these are hole-in-the-walls, so don’t expect castles and arches.   Pupuseria…

Design and Dine Recap 2015

Design and Dine 2015  A collective of hauntingly beautiful people and fashion forward garments was the essence of last Thursday night’s Design and Dine event. Sprinkled between the pretty, was a mix of good eats and even better booze. Held in Plano’s Classic BMW Building, ticket holders had a chance to view collections from acclaimed designers such as Neobantu and Esé Azénabor. In the midst of the creativity flowing across the stage, guests were able to satiate their palates with savory stuffed goat cheese filled mushrooms and spicy smooth pimento cheese dip, from Taverna Rossa. For those seeking a meatier experience, Rafian Brazilian Steakhouse provided kabobs with thick cuts of…

Cheese Charming at Dallas Grilled Cheese Co.

Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. TXmb Rated 4.8 Stars When was the last time you or your mom made one? Grabbed a couple of spongey soft slices of simplistic white bread, smoothed butter on all four sides, topped them off with 4 slivers of good ole fashioned American Cheese, slapped it all together in a cast iron skillet and started the process of grilling some cheese. For me it’s been ages, probably somewhere around middle school to be exact. You know that time in life you know everything, including the best way to concoct the world’s greatest grilled cheese. To my 13-year-old self I can officially say, ‘You know nothing of…

Terrible Number Two

Eddie’s Napolis Fine Italian Restaurant  TXMB Rated 1.5 Stars The desire was there yet again, and the decision of taking a much needed nap or searching for food came upon me. Well, I decided the belly was beckoning for Italian and the belly in this hour made itself known that it was more important than the eyelids. So, I hopped in Old Blue and made my way to Eddie’s Napolis Fine Italian Restaurant. Napolis is defiantly your definition of a hole in the wall. Like several of the restaurants I’ve visited in Garland it is inside of a shopping center. From the outside, the place is nothing special and a…

Making Meals In the Sack

In The Sack Rated 4 Stars TXMB It’s been a long day. Maybe the longest ever, and all you really want to do is kick back some booze, chow down on something tasty and run an unending marathon of newly released shows on Netflix. But, the liquor store is far away and usually crowded. So, begrudgingly you decide to pick up a quick bite at the closest fast food joint, quickly forgoing any dreams of good wine and good grub. Good news, your days of choosing between getting yourself a bottle of bueno vino or going home and slumming it in your sweats have officially ended. Gourmet food, meets booze,…

Venturing to Vagabond

Vagabond-Rated 3.75 Stars txMB Climaxing at the corner of famished and crazy I decided to treat myself to a wee bit of happiness hour. The evenings escape came in the form of the almost one year old eatery Vagabond. Located on lower Greenville, I’d seen this place before with its beautiful dancing flames outside that always illicit romantic feelings. Beyond that, the name is pretty cool. Inside, there were only a few souls, so I grabbed a seat at the bar. The bar is good sized, filled with plenty of different elixirs and an awesome man behind the booze named Mr. Salomon. More about his concoctions later. The menu isn’t large,…
