Whiskey Fest Shiny suits, big hair, white gogo boots, and cat eyes for days were some of the things you might count on seeing during the 1960s. An era of cool swank, with Sinatra as the soundtrack. Like a castle of all things exquisitely edible the Chefs for Farmers main event Culinary Village was a splash of taste from start to finish. Although the village was originally scheduled to be held outside at Lee Park near Turtle Creek, Texas weather decided otherwise, as a monsoon basically took over the city during that weekend. Anytime a person even considers eating tacos in Texas I think everyone in the state breaks out into collective hunger pangs and cravings. So, it should come as no surprise that the first annual Tacolandia event hosted by the Dallas Observer was packed to the shell with taco lovers. A cool fall breeze at dusk, illuminating patio string lights stretching across a breathtaking landscape, and the scent of seasoned ground beef searing on grills. It’s one of those epic eating evenings that one would not soon forget. For the seventh year in a row the annual Burgers and Burgundy affair was influential in raising funds and awareness for DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS). From amazing chefs to unforgettable dishes and cocktails, the two day epicurean event Park & Palate celebrated the love of food while raising funds for Klyde Warren Park. The event included Down to the Roots on Friday night which focused on chefs and their dishes, while Saturday’s event, the Grand Tasting was all about restaurants and chefs. Because words can’t do it justice, here’s a look back at some of the most intriguing dishes served during the event, including pig ear salad, fried antelope and even rabbit chorizo. Third Annual Beer, Bourbon and Brisket Festival Recap

Ft. Worth’s Panther Island Pavilion was filled with the succulent aroma of grilled goodness this past Saturday, as lovers of three of the most important B words to ever grace Webster’s Dictionary came out to celebrate, Beer, Bourbon and Brisket. This year, barbeque joints across DFW came out to show folks just how tasty their meat really was, tempting event goers with sausage, ribs and of course brisket.
