Whiskey Fest 2015 Recap

Whiskey Fest Shiny suits, big hair, white gogo boots, and cat eyes for days were some of the things you might count on seeing during the 1960s. An era of cool swank, with Sinatra as the soundtrack. During this year’s Dallas Whiskey and Fine Spirits Festival, it was all about traveling back to the cool with a bevy of boozy samples, gambling tables and the sounds of Ricki Dereck & the Vegas Six. Held at the Status Jet Hangar at Addison Airport, the entrance into Whiskey Fest (as always) did not disappoint. Two beautiful white and black flamingo feathered ladies stood posing with one of several BMW’s. Meanwhile, the night…

Welcome to Foodie Wonderland: Culinary Village 2015

Like a castle of all things exquisitely edible the Chefs for Farmers main event Culinary Village was a splash of taste from start to finish. Although the village was originally scheduled to be held outside at Lee Park near Turtle Creek, Texas weather decided otherwise, as a monsoon basically took over the city during that weekend. Impressively, within a short period of time, the organizers for the Culinary Village turned Gilley’s from an event venue to a multi room food and booze haven unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. There was no shortage of tongue tingling items during the Culinary Village. Etched in fall flavors, the rustic taste of autumn…

Anytime a person even considers eating tacos in Texas I think everyone in the state breaks out into collective hunger pangs and cravings. So, it should come as no surprise that the first annual Tacolandia event hosted by the Dallas Observer was packed to the shell with taco lovers. Held at City Hall Plaza, taco addicted people came out by the dozens to enjoy the all you can eat extravaganza. El Come Taco kicked the classic up a bit, adding fresh pineapple to their flavorful pork…

Fortunately the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association kept the elements of surprise and savor during their Mystery Dine Around Downtown Dallas event. Guests arrived around 6 PM at the gorgeous Joule Hotel in Downtown Dallas where they escorted from the ground to an elevator that moved them to a picturesque terrace view of downtown Dallas. Upon exiting the elevator guests were greeted with signature cocktails like the herb infused prosecco, a citrusy blend of grapefruit, lemon, mint, house made almond…

Burger Chatting with Chef Kevin Williamson

A cool fall breeze at dusk, illuminating patio string lights stretching across a breathtaking landscape, and the scent of seasoned ground beef searing on grills. It’s one of those epic eating evenings that one would not soon forget. The event was held at the gorgeous home of Karen and William Seanor on October 2. Chefs and restaurants participating tempted guests with an array of meaty sliders and brilliant burgers. Third Annual Beer, Bourbon and Brisket Festival Recap

Ft. Worth’s Panther Island Pavilion was filled with the succulent aroma of grilled goodness this past Saturday, as lovers of three of the most important B words to ever grace Webster’s Dictionary came out to celebrate, Beer, Bourbon and Brisket. This year, barbeque joints across DFW came out to show folks just how tasty their meat really was, tempting event goers with sausage, ribs and of course brisket. Although there were only six food vendors at this year’s event, they all seemed to pile on the good stuff. Rudy’s for example gave a sample container of sausage, one rib and brisket, while Gas Monkey Bar and Grill piled teeny plates…
