Going Totally Texan and Tacos at By the Horns Brewing

The greatest tacos ever to grace a greasy shell in DFW are almost always found inside an unsuspecting gas station. This is Texan knowledge 101. It goes in the same handbook that requires Texans to love anything dealing with longhorns, brews, queso, margaritas and recently, Topo Chico. By the Horns Brewing has not only read this handbook, they’ve turned it into doctrine. Located in Mansfield, By the Horns Brewing is the latest brainchild of Chef Jason Boso. He’s the man behind the comfort food classic concepts, Twisted Root Burger, (there’s also one next door) and the forever bustling Truck Yard. Some who’ve spent a little time chasing cheesesteaks and…

Per the usual, expect an evening of unique bar concepts. This year UCE is pairing male and female captains together to make 10 exquisite cocktails. Hailing from Canada and returning for another round, Kelsey Ramage is here to shake up a few tequila type things . First, thank you so much for agreeing…

Devouring Denton: The Foodies Takeover

Getting out of town doesn’t always mean hoping on a plane. Sometimes you just need a getaway that feels far away without the matching price tag. So grab a few friends and make your way to a little town called Denton. Primarily known for cheap shots and college kids sporting Mean Green attire, one could easily dismiss Denton as being a party town for students. And while that’s true, this place still has more to offer than just Jell-O shots and freshman angst. To that avail, a few foodie pals and myself decided to descend upon the town and grub and sip our way through it. Before beginning our rendezvous…

After it was all said and done, if you weren’t waddling when walking out, you did something absolutely wrong. Here’s a glimpse at the goodness. PS, you may want to start saving room right now for next year’s Between…

Specializing in “Old Stove” recipes, Texas Jam House isn’t just dishing out brisket 24 hours a day, they’ve got a variety of classic Texas dishes. Including a meatloaf…

Local Brews Local Grooves Brings the Grub and the Suds

Anytime a mac n’cheese station, beer, and good local music is involved, you know you need to be there. This past Saturday, plenty of people brought their dancing shoes and appetites for beer and grub, during Local Brews Local Grooves. Held annually at House of Blues, the event was packed with room to room fun. Guests had the opportunity to sample a number of tasty suds from local breweries such as favorites like Peticolas, Revolver, and Deep Ellum Brewing Co. Heads or Tails Recap

Though some of us are still reeling from the effects of time changing (I know I am) there are certain things that make losing an hour of sleep a lot more bearable. All you can eat shrimp and crawfish plus a few cold brews to wash it down are a few things worth skipping zzz’s for. This year’s annual sold out fundraiser, Heads or Tails Seafood Boil hosted by the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association was a success. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect as everyone gathered on the patio of The Rustic to enjoy good sounds and grubbage prepared by GDRA president and her staff, Sharon Van Meter.…
