Sliders vs Swank at the Eberhard

The Eberhard 3.3 Stars Swank is not the easiest thing to pull off. In fact, it’s actually quite difficult, but when done correctly, there is no question that you get the feeling you’re sitting in the lap of luxury. It’s safe to say that the Eberhard has definitely done their research on swank. I arrived close to 6PM on a Friday to meet up with my pal for a little chitter chatter and happy hour. Pulling up, it was no surprise that the place requires valet. After all, this is Dallas, TX and valet is a way of life. Opening the large doors, I was pleasantly greeted by two lovely…

A Glimpse at the First Course

DFW Restaurant Week:First Course You know you’ve entered a happy place when there are good hearted people walking around with trays of lollipops, but not just any kind of lollipops. Bacon wrapped venison lollipops stuffed with jalapeño, smoked mozzarella and molasses. After chomping down on one, you realize you’re not just in a happy place, but foodvana. The second annual DFW Restaurant Week: First Course kickoff party was an event of taste tenacity this year. Guests gathered last Thursday evening to partake in a variety of delicious samples from local eateries while enjoying clever cocktails, live music, and art. A portion of the proceeds from the taste bud teasing shindig…

Sausage Fest 2015 Recap

Sausage Fest 2015 You know you’re at Sausage Fest when: A. There’s a rather large handlebar mustache seesaw for you to hop on. B. When there are girls in pink bikini’s riding a mechanical bull. Or C, when the foot long hot dog on the menu is called Wat Dat Mouf Do. In case you’re wondering, all three of these things happened, but that was just a piece of the meaty mischievousness that occurred at this year at the third annual Sausage Fest. Held inside the popular Main Street Garden, guests had the opportunity to have all their “sausage needs” met. Hosted by the talented and racy crew of 105.3…

Grand Opening of Val’s Cheesecake

Val’s Cheesecake Within an hour they were already sold out of cookies and cream, and lemon poppy seed jars. Moments after that, they would be sold out of the red velvet cheesecake jars as well. The grand opening of Val’s Cheesecake was a hit and then some on last Tuesday, June 30. The event brought out a number of sweet and savory toothed lovers ready to support the exciting new endeavor of owners Valery Jean-Bart and Christopher Reece. Easy Slider food truck was once again wonderful with their mouthwatering sliders, (shout out to my favorite, Sweet and Lowdown), and the Grapevine Bar, Val’s new next door neighbor served as the…

Taco Libre Recap

Taco Libre Heat and humidity, don’t have a shot in hell at deterring a Texan from a taco. The first annual Taco Libre festival seemed to bring out the entire city of Dallas and then some. The event started at 2PM, but even before that, the line began wrapping around the corner to get inside. Sadly, not everyone was able to partake in the festivities, as the event ended up completely selling out. Those who did make it past the gate were tempted with a number of taco options. A few of my personal favorites included the seasoned soft and tender barbacoa taco from Chile Pepper Grill in Fort Worth.…

When the Staycation Met the Taco

Le Taco Cantina-Rated 5 Stars The first thing you need to know about Le Taco Cantina is, it’s not Mexican food. You may find this hard to believe, considering the name of the place, and some of their specialty cocktails. But, Le Taco Cantina is much more than that. After all, when was the last time you went to a taco joint around town and they were serving grilled octopus, unagi eel, Persian cucumber, wasabi and avocado inside a fresh handmade corn tortilla? Go ahead, I’ll wait. Conveniently located on Oak Lawn Avenue, Le Taco is the type of neighborhood eatery that is somewhat difficult to describe, but in the…

Taste the Difference 2015

Taste the Difference 2015 Recap Cuisine for a cause. Taste the Difference 2015 was a delicious VIP culinary event held during 2015 Taste of Dallas. The event benefited the American Heart Association. Chefs came with pizzazz as they tempted taste buds with a number of dishes. Some favorites included Cru Wine Bar’s Barolo braised short rib with gorgonzola polenta. Caribbean Cabana did not disappoint with their beef patties, wings, and rice and cabbage sampler. Meanwhile delicious crunchy mini crab cakes covered in a spicy creamy beurre blanc sauce were offered up by Amberjacks Fish Market Grille. For sips, guests could wet their whistles with a variety of booze, including a…

Harvey B’s and the Legend of Char Broiled Burgers

Harvey B’s Rated 4.7 Stars TXMB And here I thought perfect grill lines were just a legend, existing only in television, places that say you can “have it your way,” and intensely filtered Instagram photos. Haven’t you ever wondered if those legends were real, and if there really was such a thing as a real char broiled burger? Harvey B’s is just such a place of legend. Although this legend has only been around a little over four months it’s already drawing quite the interest. Located in East Dallas, Harvey B’s is a tiny joint with something like 5 stools and 4 chairs. There’s not tons of space inside to…
