Before chowing down on the main event, it’s always nice to get the grubbage going with that first temptation, aka appetizer, aka app, aka starter. While several of the items on this list are definitely fried, they all have the power to fill you up. Best of all, everything is under $10. How could you not be tempted? Green Room Mussels 20 Feet Seafood Joint Mussels and muscles. Two great things. One you can eat, the other one makes you feel and look good. In fact sometimes you need muscles to eat mussels, (insert half grin or eye roll here). They may have a following for their lobster roll and…
The Magic at Henry’s Majestic
Henry’s Majestic-4.5 Stars TXMB Tucked in the corners of McKinney there is a rather hidden but well-known gem. I should rephrase, for me being a rather unfortunate soul at directions it is pretty hidden. I had to ride around the neighborhood about 15 additional minutes to find the place, despite my phone navigation declaring that the destination was on the left. Once I found Henry’s Majestic, it wasn’t long after that I realized I’d found magic. Arriving around 5:45PM, the evening began with a kind greeting from a valet attendant. Because of course, you’re not Dallas unless you have valet. We clearly love it. Henry’s however, is complimentary, which is…
Recap Mystery Dine Around Downtown Dallas
Typically, when food and mystery come together, the images conjured may range between a murder mystery dinner with sub-par cuisine to that meatloaf surprise that shows up at the occasional workplace potluck. Fortunately the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association kept the elements of surprise and savor during their Mystery Dine Around Downtown Dallas event. Guests arrived around 6 PM at the gorgeous Joule Hotel in Downtown Dallas where they escorted from the ground to an elevator that moved them to a picturesque terrace view of downtown Dallas. Upon exiting the elevator guests were greeted with signature cocktails like the herb infused prosecco, a citrusy blend of grapefruit, lemon, mint, house made almond…
A Glimpse at the First Course
DFW Restaurant Week:First Course You know you’ve entered a happy place when there are good hearted people walking around with trays of lollipops, but not just any kind of lollipops. Bacon wrapped venison lollipops stuffed with jalapeño, smoked mozzarella and molasses. After chomping down on one, you realize you’re not just in a happy place, but foodvana. The second annual DFW Restaurant Week: First Course kickoff party was an event of taste tenacity this year. Guests gathered last Thursday evening to partake in a variety of delicious samples from local eateries while enjoying clever cocktails, live music, and art. A portion of the proceeds from the taste bud teasing shindig…
Sausage Fest 2015 Recap
Sausage Fest 2015 You know you’re at Sausage Fest when: A. There’s a rather large handlebar mustache seesaw for you to hop on. B. When there are girls in pink bikini’s riding a mechanical bull. Or C, when the foot long hot dog on the menu is called Wat Dat Mouf Do. In case you’re wondering, all three of these things happened, but that was just a piece of the meaty mischievousness that occurred at this year at the third annual Sausage Fest. Held inside the popular Main Street Garden, guests had the opportunity to have all their “sausage needs” met. Hosted by the talented and racy crew of 105.3…
Taco Libre Recap
Taco Libre Heat and humidity, don’t have a shot in hell at deterring a Texan from a taco. The first annual Taco Libre festival seemed to bring out the entire city of Dallas and then some. The event started at 2PM, but even before that, the line began wrapping around the corner to get inside. Sadly, not everyone was able to partake in the festivities, as the event ended up completely selling out. Those who did make it past the gate were tempted with a number of taco options. A few of my personal favorites included the seasoned soft and tender barbacoa taco from Chile Pepper Grill in Fort Worth.…
Making Meals In the Sack
In The Sack Rated 4 Stars TXMB It’s been a long day. Maybe the longest ever, and all you really want to do is kick back some booze, chow down on something tasty and run an unending marathon of newly released shows on Netflix. But, the liquor store is far away and usually crowded. So, begrudgingly you decide to pick up a quick bite at the closest fast food joint, quickly forgoing any dreams of good wine and good grub. Good news, your days of choosing between getting yourself a bottle of bueno vino or going home and slumming it in your sweats have officially ended. Gourmet food, meets booze,…

Memories of Brewfest Blissfulness 2013
Brewfest 2013 Brewfest is just around the corner and clearly this kid can’t wait. Take a gander at my short recap from 2013. Please note, it was written after having consumed quite a bit of brew. Thanks. Yet again Brewfest was some kind of wonderful. Beer lovers could not have possibly been disappointed at the third annual event held in Dallas Arts District. Plenty of tasty brews, a wee bit of food, good music and whole lot of shenanigans made for a colossal evening. Plenty of folks came out sporting their tip top suds attire. A few found a way to accessorize their outfits with a tasteful beer can necklace.…
All the Juice Behind Vim+Vigor
Vim+Vigor- Rated 5 Stars TXMB n intensely satisfying game of table shuffleboard happened that night. Along with four friendly glassfuls of various concoctions. One sake bomb, one large sake, 2 glorious vodka and sodas with lime and to top off the evening, chilled shots of Patron. The night was about birthday celebration and the joys of slapping 27 in the face and giggling about it. The next morning 27 explained that it doesn’t take those slaps so nicely. A few nice sprinkles of sweet sleep happened, then I drank a few big chugs of coffee and hopped in Old Blue to meet the ladies of Vim+Vigor. After a quick tour…
