Taking a just because it’s Wednesday excursion to Europe isn’t exactly feasible for everyone’s budget. But, sometimes you just need to get away from the day to day of it all. Maybe you can’t afford that trip to the northern hemisphere this weekend, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go somewhere central. Recently, the Marriott Las Colinas took things to a new level of luxury, completing a multi-million-dollar renovation of the hotel. Mixing chic, with Texas rustic, there’s something new to see in every nook of this space. Here are 7 reasons to ditch your daily digs for a little staycation and relaxation at the new and improved Marriott Las…

CFF Main Event Recap 2018
Patiently waiting in line to meet up with my devouring destiny, I struck up a conversation with a couple. “We look forward to this event every year,” she happily exclaimed. Though they’d been tempted to attend other grubby galas around town, The Main Event for Chefs for Farmers ALWAYS got their coins. Once again, it was money well spent. Held at the historic Dallas Heritage Village for the first time, this year appetites were allured by a variety of delicious bites but wagyu beef took center stage. Some took a traditional approach to the tender meat, but others went a cut above, like the Wagyu Beef Gyro Airbread or the…
Day of the Dead at Cantina Laredo
This year celebrate Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead at Cantina Laredo. The longstanding Mexican eatery has paired with Espolon Tequila for several tasty cocktails offered now through the first weekend of November. Each week guests have the opportunity to explore a different hand crafted cocktail. The drinks are served in a commemorative Cantarita clay cup with an augmented reality image. Bonus, if you hold your phone up to the mug it comes to life. Think of it as story time with tequila. TXMB (All locations)
CFF Kicks off with The Mix Off 2018
It’s nearly time for one of the most delightfully delicious food and drinking events of the year, Chefs for Farmers. Once again, the annual premier celebration of food and wine kicked off with The Mix Off presented by Maker’s Mark and Patron. Of course no CFF event is complete without a few mouthwatering bites. Like a tender beefy taco topped with crushed chicharrones and ox tail fried rice to die for. 7 Reason’s Eating at Edith’s French Cafe is Essential
Sauce, mimosas and I’ll go ahead and take ALL of the croissants. Edith’s French Café just gets me. Here are 7 reasons why I can’t no longer live without nearly everything on their menu. P.S., this list could have been much longer. It’s Beautiful Sunlight simply pours inside this space, which is ironic considering it was once the pretty dark and mediocre seafood restaurant, Rockfish. It’s bright and happy here, which immediately makes you smile and want to gobble down everything. Breakfast is Served all DAY LONG Forking down Ricotta Pancakes with blueberry sausage, berry compote and honey butter at 7 PM on a Wednesday is a thing…
Shell Shack Makes Henderson Home
Shell Shack – 4 Stars Seasoning soaked fingers are getting easier to come by. Shell Shack Uptown closed their doors recently and reopened a bigger, shellier space on Henderson Ave. This is just one of several latest Shell Shack locations to open. With the Henderson spot, Shell Shack is giving customers more patio space, more drinks and plenty of seafood. If you’ve never been, I always recommend going for a bag, preferably the Kitchen Sink with Dungeness crab, tators, sausage and broccoli. Crab connoisseurs should try the bairdi snow crabs here. It’s a little sweeter but less dense than your standard snow. According to Chief Executive Officer of Shell Shack,…
Satiating Spring at State & Allen Kitchen and Bar
State & Allen Kitchen and Bar 5 Stars Pork belly is quite the finicky food. If not prepared just right, particularly braised or fried, it simply does not work. Because of this I lead into every pork belly situation with caution. I extended this same fork first caution when trying out the new Crispy Pork Belly Tostadas at State & Allen Kitchen and Bar. After one bite it was clear my need for caution was absolutely unnecessary. The popular uptown neighborhood eatery recently launched a mouthwatering Spring menu that features 12 new bites and 17 signature new booze concoctions. This leads us back to their Crispy Pork Belly Tostadas. Topped…
