Jia Brings Jia to Park Cities

There’s a lounge in Dallas where you can drink smooth Malbec, chill in a gorgeous atmosphere and munch on exceptionally creamy, crabby wontons. Having recently moved from China, Jia Huang decided to bring her take on modern Chinese cuisine to Dallas in her first restaurant, Jia Modern Chinese. Located in Park Cities, Jia does not particularly “cater” to American taste buds, but rather expands them. Open seven days a week, Jia’s has both a traditional and swanky feel, striking a delicate balance that can be tasted in the cuisine and marveled at in the décor. When walking inside, your eyes may escape to the deep red walls, which tastefully compliment…

New Menu at Don’t Tell Supper Club

Dancing, burlesque and drag shows are all good things, especially when they can be found in the same place. Add some bomb ass drinks and good grub to boot, then it’s officially surpassed good times and made its way to epic. Since 2017, Don’t Tell Supper Club has combined live entertainment with food and cocktails, creating one of the most unique dining experiences in the city. Recently, Don’t Tell not so quietly introduced their new menu. It kicks off with shareable Opening Acts like Smoked Yellowtail Sashimi, citrusly married with grapefruit segments, sliced jalapenos, cucumbers and avocado puree. The Kobe Beef Carpaccio is a savory blend of raw Kobe…

Going Totally Texan and Tacos at By the Horns Brewing

The greatest tacos ever to grace a greasy shell in DFW are almost always found inside an unsuspecting gas station. This is Texan knowledge 101. It goes in the same handbook that requires Texans to love anything dealing with longhorns, brews, queso, margaritas and recently, Topo Chico. By the Horns Brewing has not only read this handbook, they’ve turned it into doctrine. Located in Mansfield, By the Horns Brewing is the latest brainchild of Chef Jason Boso. He’s the man behind the comfort food classic concepts, Twisted Root Burger, (there’s also one next door) and the forever bustling Truck Yard. Some who’ve spent a little time chasing cheesesteaks and…

It’s nearly time for one of the most delightfully delicious food and drinking events of the year, Chefs for Farmers. Once again, the annual premier celebration of food and wine kicked off with The Mix Off presented by Maker’s Mark and Patron. Brunch and Other Good Things at Thirsty Lion

A damn good fried potato aka French fry will always be a spot of weakness for me. Pair that with a well-seasoned spicy crispy chicken sandwich, and I’m ready to commit.  While I am not particularly crazy about a lot of chain eateries, when a place does things right, you’ve got to give props. And, without a doubt Thirsty Lion deserves quite a few props. Late last year Thirsty Lion joined multiple other eateries opening their doors at the Toyota Music Factory in Irving. With their founding roots in Portland, and knowing the delightful things I know about the grub in Portland, expectations were HIGH to say the least.…
