A great bottle of wine is like a great relationship. Once it’s given time to breathe, you will likely find yourself engulfed in something with unimaginable depth, robust flavor and a sipping Companion that will last a lifetime.

Husband and wife business owners, Tim and Jennifer McCallum know what it takes to make a commitment, not only to each other, but to their loyal and ever growing following. It all started with an admiration for popping corks and twirling forks, when the two began their food and drinking blog, He Wines She Dines. Going on food friendly adventures, primarily around DFW, Jennifer gave her critique of the grub, while Tim focused on the wine. As the blog, blossomed, they began a podcast with the same name where the two discussed all things wine. And soon this led to an even bigger expression, Club Jeroboam.

This one-of-a-kind wine club is centered around providing customers with a one-of-a-kind wine experience. Think of Club Jeroboam as budget friendly exclusivity. “We produce 9 distilled wines and 12 champagnes in France. So, all of our grapes are California grapes, even though we are a Texas winery,” explained Tim. To keep their collection evolving, they also purchase wines from across the country and around the world. And, for those who adore bubbles, there’s the Club Cuvee Membership. This membership offers some of the finest sparkling wines and champagnes from across the world, mostly with limited US distribution. Membership to Club Jeroboam starts at $50 a shipment, with 3 bottles of wine per month, or every other month.

Although 90% of their business is online, the couple hosts tastings at their Rockwall warehouse where members and non-members alike can come out to try and buy. During their last tasting, a live band played as customers were serenaded by a songstress and experienced several of their exclusive wines and champagnes, like their Everyday White. Perfect for someone who leans towards sweeter whites, but not too sweet, Everyday White is made with 3% Symphony and features a chardonnay base. Light and crisp, it’s similar to a Sauvignon Blanc, and ends with an almost cantaloupe like sweetness.

Not to be outdone by the whites or bubbles, Club Jeroboam offers a number of must have reds through their membership, like the bold and juicy Lion Tamer Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, Emmolo Merlot and EOS Zinfandel just to name a few. Like their whites, the reds that the couple produces come from California, primarily from Lodi. You’ll adore their easy drinking Everyday Red, Grenache, Pinot Noir and Cabernet. These are all great, particularly because the couple never sells anything that they haven’t tried. But, when it comes to reds produced by Club Jeroboam, Companion is in a league of its own. With only a few bottles produced Companion, a 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage, features a gorgeous watercolor painting of Tim and Jennifer in a passionate embrace staring at each other. According to the bottle, Companion is one of their most exquisite wines crafted in small batches with grapes from several regions. One sip, and you understand exactly why its called Companion. There’s joy in the bottle, complexity in the flavor and a distinctive embrace in every mouthful.

As wine aficionados make their way to Club Jeroboam, one of their biggest supporters is right here in DFW. Judge David Mallard stopped by during their most recent tasting with wife Sherry Ann Mallard to sample and purchase several wines. “I think they’re great. This is one of the few places that I’ve been in, especially this small, and even some of the big stores don’t have wines that I know and like. They have so many thousands of brands. These guys have some of the great wines that I know and some that I don’t know,” Judge Mallard explained. After a sip of Companion, Mallard grinned at Tim, Jen and his wife, “We just envy you guys,” he exclaimed. “We think it’s great that you could kind of shift gears, take a right turn, left turn and climb a new hill. Obviously, you like what you’re doing, you know what you’re doing so that’s really helpful,” said the judge.

Jen and Tim have not just created a wine club. From traveling to Champagne, France and finding the most exclusive bubbles your palate ever did know, to producing their own wines in California, this couple has found adventure through their passion. And that’s the best companion any of us could ever hope for.  TxMb
