Moon Wok-Rated 3 Stars

Ten bucks. That’s the limit. I folded my little loot, bounced in Old Blue and met my pals at Moon Wok. Arriving a few minutes before them, I took a gander around this place. Not too shabby, but teetering closer to a hole in a wall than a palace. It’s about the food not the ambiance. A massive version of their menu covers one stretch of wall. I grabbed a seat at the booth right above the huge menu. Reading it, I grinned with glee. I tucked at the wrinkled bill in my coat and realized I had more than enough for a feast.

Once my chums arrived we stood around and made our choices. They went for Orange Chicken and Cashew Chicken respectively. I set my sights on the Lo Mein Combination, a mix of shrimp and chicken. Each of the dishes were under 8 bucks. My Lo Mein, a mere $6.99. Yup, there was change.

In a few moments the waiter with a kind face placed two bowls of Egg Drop Soup and Hot and Sour Soup on the table. Winning. I spooned the brown liquid with a surprise and a smile. Nothing extra ordinary, but it went down smooth. We sipped our soups and chimed in on the New Year and desired escapades. In 10 minutes the man with the kind face arrived at the table carrying three overstuffed plates all topped off with eggrolls.

I bit into the eggroll. Not too bad. Thick dough and rather meaty. The Lo Mein was noodle aplenty with polite amounts of tiny shrimp and sliced chicken breast. A bit on the saucy greasy side, the taste was typical. I stole a bite of Orange Chicken from pal one, then stole a little Cashew Chicken from pal two. The orange chicken was heavily breaded while the Cashew Chicken had bits of chicken breast and crunchy veggies laced in a thick brown sauce.

None of the dishes truly tickled my tummy. But kind faces, and plentiful plates are a plus when visiting this friendly eatery. You’ll get a ton of food, probably some to take home. Just don’t expect the moon. TXmb
