Emporium Pies- 5 stars TXmb

When someone tells you there’s a pie shop somewhere, you pay attention. Not surprisingly I was all ears after being told about the Emporium Pies located in Bishop Arts. Emporium Pies has to be one of the MOST darling little places that ever existed. A house turned into a pie shop, the space is cozy and quaint with cutie pie waitress kindness to boot. Even the menus are printed on pretty glossy floral stock. It’s overwhelmingly wonderful. And the pie is sort of extraordinary. Changed seasonally, their confections contain no artificial preservatives, hydrogenated oils, dyes or corn syrup. A slice will run you 5 bucks, but if you go for the full Monty, prices range between $30-$40.

Indecisive longing led me to two slices, The Drunken Nut, and Lord of the Pies. The Drunken Nut is their version of classic pecan pie. There is no skimping on butter, brown sugar, pecans or bourbon, and all that goodness atop scrumptious shortbread crust. Accurately named, Lord of the Pies is a deep dish delight bountiful with fresh thin sliced apples and topped with splendid cinnamon streusel. I’d never been big on apple pie before trying Lord of the Pies but it will turn you into a believer. TXmb
