The Cedars Social is the type of place where egg whites meet frothy, alcohol induced endings poured inside coupe glasses. Since opening in 2011, prohibition style elixirs have served as the focal point of this swanky bar with a not so vintage looking price tag to match. But, with the start of their new happy hour and late night menu, the swank has now become affordable.

Don’t expect your standard rum and Cokes or vodka soda’s. Instead you’ll find seven complex craft cocktails like the Self Starter made with gin, Gifford Apricot, lillet and absinthe or the Death in the Gulf Stream, a name that kind of says it all. Another must try on the list is the refreshing El Diablo, made with tequila, crème de casis, lime and ginger beer. It’s the kind of summer smooth drink we all deserve after a hot day.  But if you’re not in the mood for upscale cocktails, red, white and sparkling rose are only $5 while PBRs and Miller Highlife’s can cool the hatch for 2 bucks.

But sipping swank is just the beginning. During your beverage consumption, you may find the need to snack a bit. Bar snacks served during their happy hour include tasty bites like the fish or sirloin tacos, the crispy calamari salad and sweet and spicy smoked wings. Because they are literally everywhere these days, delicious deviled eggs make an appearance on the menu topped off with pickled fresno. Other menu items include large filling meatballs, esquites and seasonal flatbread using veggies from the local Bonton Farm.

The new menus at The Cedar Social are available during happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 PM – 7 PM, Sunday through Thursday 10 PM – 11:30 PM and Friday and Saturday, 12 AM – 1:30 AM. Although you could come here and get wasted after a long and involved weekday, or soon to be involved weekend aka pregaming, that’s not the main purpose of coming here. These cocktails are meant to be sipped and not gulped, appreciated instead of simply getting the job done. Six bucks is a bargain for that type of class in a glass. Txmb
