  Already stuffed from the spinach and cheese inside crispy phyllo, aka spanakopita and seasoned dolmas, I still yearned for another gyro. Just as I began waddling closer to the stand, I realized this belly could handle no more Greek goodness. For the 62nd year, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church put on the Greek Food Festival of Dallas.     Sauce and more sauce. That’s the joy of visiting Razoos. Take a glimpse at a few of their dishes and sauces. Most notable sauce is the BBQ Ouch with grilled alligator. What to Order – Rat toes, aka jalapenos stuffed with crab meat and deep fried. Only get them if you can handle the heat. CBRE Chef’s Showcase 2017 Recap   Celebrating 19 years, the annual CBRE Chef’s Showcase Fundraiser attracted an expansive crowd that helped in raising funds for Camp John Marc. The 70-acre camp is a nonprofit organization which aids Texas children living with major physical challenges and chronic illnesses. Last year, Chef’s Showcase raised a whopping $250,000 for the camp. Taste Addison Preview 2017

Taste Addison Preview With the upcoming Taste Addison some of the area’s top restaurants came out to preview a few bites your palate should anticipate at this year’s festival. Held at the Addison Conference Center, the Preview’s most notable of samples were  the always impressive tacos from Cantina Laredo, baklava from Little Greek and addictingly soft blondies from Mad Batter Baker. Zest Fest Returns with More Spice

Tongue tingling satisfaction returned to Irving for the annual Zest Fest. Held at the Irving Convention Center, vendors, celebrity chefs and ready to risk it all foodies were in attendance. The weekend long festivities included an Atomic Wing Eating Contest, Puckerbutt’s Jalapeño Eating Contest, and the Eddie Deen Pig Roast Dinner. Austin Food + Wine Festival Kicks Off at Irene’s

Austin Food + Wine Festival is officially underway. On Thursday, January 19th the appetizing annual affair kicked off on the back patio of downtown Austin’s Irene’s, with an exclusive cocktail party featuring chefs Jonathan Waxman and Drew Curren. Wetting whistles for the evening were two tequila and whiskey based punches, along with various wines from Rodney Strong Vineyard’s and brews from the city’s own, Austin Beerworks. The outside bar and tables were set up with baskets of Irene’s signature Harvest Mix, a comradery of popcorn, peanuts, potato sticks, and sprinkles of dill.
