In 1991 clothes were extra loud and colorful. Robert De Niro was an incensed villain in the remake of Cape Fear. And, a cute little place called Sambuca’s that married jazz with delicious food was making its debut. Nearly 30 years later, this not so little restaurant is still drawing people in and celebrating like its 1991 with $19.91 specials.

Throughout January the original Sambuca’s in Uptown Dallas is drawing folks in for a taste of what makes them special. The restaurant is serving a three course meal with your choice of salad, entrée and dessert for the price of $19.91. Start your trip back to the 90s with the house or Ceasar salad. The tender loin is a filling plate of flavorfully seasoned pieces of pork accompanied with a nutty pecan rice, avocado and pineapple relish.

Seafood suitors have their option of spicy harissa shrimp with couscous in a white wine harissa butter or the exquisite zebra pasta. An easy favorite, large handmade pasta shell is stuffed with scallops, shrimp and lobster, then decked out in a parmesan garlic cream sauce. Top off the 3-course throwback experience with the crème brûlée or their sticky toffee pudding. If you haven’t eaten it, get ready for a sticky, spiced cake, toffee topped ice cream rendezvous.

Besides their throwback menu special, Sambuca’s is returning to their roots with live jazz every Friday evening now throughout the month of February. Whether you come in for the three course special or a little live music, it’s a flashback to 1991 that your ears and your belly will appreciate. Note, scrunchies and chokers are not included with the special. (For more details contact Sambuca’s Uptown)
